Your guide to how we work, think, and support your growth

We work with sports officials at every level — from grassroots to elite — and across multiple sports. Whether you’re developing your officiating or refining your performance at the top, our sessions are designed to support your growth, challenge, and progress.

At mindwhistle, we understand the unique demands and pressures faced by sports officials — performers who make real-time human decisions. Our philosophy, grounded in the Preparation–Performance–Perspective framework, is human-centered and built on:

  • Autonomy and responsibility in decision-making
  • A holistic approach to each client as both person and performer
  • A focus on the “here, now, and next”
  • An appreciation of the lived experience of being a sports official

We’re driven to provide world-class performance psychology support that empowers officials to thrive both on and off the field.

Our support blends reflection, practical strategies, and psychological insight to help you manage pressure, build resilience, and enhance consistency in decision-making, communication, and performance.

Each session is structured but flexible. Together, we’ll explore your experiences as a sports official, identify key thought processes, and develop strategies to help you perform with greater clarity, confidence, and control.

No. Performance psychology support is goal-oriented and forward-focused. It’s designed to optimise your officiating mindset, match-day focus, and on-field presence, and general off-field wellbeing - not to address clinical or therapeutic issues.

Yes, absolutely. We offer tailored sessions for officiating teams designed to enhance communication, focus, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. These sessions can be especially valuable at the start of your season, during the crucial run-in when everything is on the line, or in the build-up to major finals and tournaments.

Yes. We regularly work with coaches, and performance psychology can be just as impactful for coaching as it is for officiating.

We support coaches who want to strengthen their own personal development, apply psychological principles within their coaching practice, and create effective, psychologically safe training and performance environments for their officials.

Yes. Just like athletes, sports officials can experience injuries and may spend time away from the game.

This can be difficult to navigate, but we’re here to help. We support our clients as they prepare for whatever comes next - whether that’s returning to full training, completing a fitness test, or officiating their first competitive match back after injury.

Yes. We also deliver on-site and online group workshops focused on the full spectrum of performance psychology for sports officials and the competitions they serve.
